    Patrol identifies fatal crash victim DEEP CREEK – The Washington State Patrol has identified a motorcyclist killed in a crash here Sept. 17 on U.S. Highway 2. Dashani M. Broomfield, 21, of Ford, was eastbound on his YZFR6 when he struck a 2006 Ford Expedition at the Brooks Road intersection. The Expedition was driven by Kayleigh J. Roop, 18, of St. Maries, Idaho, the patrol said. She was marking a turn onto Brooks Road when she was struck. Broomfield’s speed was listed as the cause of the crash by the patrol. Neither dru...

    DEEP CREEK – Dashani M. Broomfield, a 21-year-old from Ford, tragically lost his life Tuesday evening in a motorcycle accident at the intersection of Brooks Road and U.S. Highway 2. According to the Washington State Patrol, Broomfield was riding his 2006 Yamaha YZFR6 eastbound on Highway 2 at approximately 11:31 p.m. when he collided with a 2006 Ford Expedition driven by Kayleigh Roop, 18, from St. Maries, Idaho.     CHENEY — The Cheney Education Association ratified a contract with the School District on Monday, averting a strike. With the strike threat averted, students returned to campus for the start of the 2024-25 school year Tuesday. The new contract includes an 18% salary increase over the next three years for teachers. That includes a 7.2% raise in the first year, a 5% raise in the second year and a 5.8% raise in the third year. Initially, teachers threatened to strike if they didn’t receive a wage increase.
