The highly-honored trio of quarterback Gage Gubrud, defensive nose tackle Jay-Tee Tiuli and running back Antoine Custer Jr. have been picked to the 2018 Big Sky Conference Preseason All-Conference Team announced July 16 by the league.

Gubrud was the 2016 Big Sky Co-Offensive MVP and a second team all-league choice a year ago. He is a 2014 graduate of McMinnville (Ore.) High School. Tiuli was a first team All-Big Sky choice in 2016 and preseason pick a year ago, but was injured and redshirted in 2017.

Custer earned second team All-Big Sky honors in 2017 and was also an honorable mention sophomore All-American. He is from Berkeley, Calif., and graduated from De La Salle High School in 2016. Tiuli is a 2014 graduate of Federal Way (Wash.) High School.

Gubrud is a two-time finalist for the Walter Payton Award presented by STATS to the top offensive player in FCS, and could break a variety of EWU and Big Sky Conference career records in 2018. He is 17-6 in 23 games as a starter, and in 27 total games as an Eagle he has 9,441 yards of total offense and 8,568 passing yards.

Tiuli has started 11 of the 36 games he has played in his career, and has had 77 total tackles with 8 1/2 sacks, three quarterback hurries and two passes deflected. Prior to the 2017 season, he earned third team preseason All-America honors from STATS after finishing his junior season with 33 tackles and four sacks.

In Custer’s 24-game career (16 as a starter), he has 1,192 yards on the ground, 463 receiving and 499 on kickoff returns for a total of 2,154 all-purpose yards (89.8 per game).
