A Fire Boss air tanker plane makes a run over a small timber fire that was sparked by unknown causes on Friday, July 13, south of Tucker Prairie Road southwest of Medical Lake. Multiple agencies responded to get the blaze under control.

Fire crews from Spokane County Fire District No. 3, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and with help from the Department of Corrections fought a fire south of Tucker Prairie Road southwest of Medical Lake on Friday, July 13.

According SCFD3 Division Chief Dustin Flock, the fire with unknown origins was limited to 3.9 acres.

A pair of Fire Boss air tanker aircraft made between five and eight water drops each, Flock said. DNR is currently trying to assess the cause of the blaze that had its start on a day where gusty winds buffeted the region.

As of July 17, there have been more than 500 wildfires reported in the state, an above average number Flock said.
