Village Cinemas movie series returns to Airway Heights

Village Centre Cinemas in Airway Heights is bringing back the summer matinee series for everyone to enjoy.

The series started on June 18 and will run until Aug. 16 for a fun activity to last throughout the summer season.

The next movie up to watch is "Paddington 2" on July 2-3 and 5. This sequel showcases Paddington the bear as a popular member of the community after he settled in with his new family, the Browns. He goes on an adventure to find a perfect present for his aunt to help celebrate her 100th birthday.

Following that will be Cloudy with a "Chance of Meatballs 2" on July 9-12. With this second movie in the series, Flint Lockwood is told he can work full-time on technology to help mankind. His son finds out that his most – famous machine, which turns water into food, was still operating. It is up to Lockwood to save the world from the machine.

Next up is "Sherlock Gnomes" on July 16-19. This film recently came out in March of this year and features a string of garden gnomes that disappear in London. Gnomeo and Juliet recruit Sherlock Gnomes to help solve the case and find their missing friends and family.

On July 23-26, "Early Man" will be showing. The movie follows a cave man named Dug, his sidekick Hognob and the rest of their tribe. The group faces a threat to their existent because somebody plans to take over their land. Dug and his family lead their people to help save their land.

Then on July 30 to Aug. 2, "Smurfs: The Lost Village" is featured. During this film, a group of Smurfs use a special map to guide them through the Forbidden Forest, which is an enchanted wonderland filled with magical creatures. The adventure leads to the biggest secret in Smurf history.

"Peter Rabbit" is next on Aug. 6 – 9. This cinema follows Peter and his three sisters enjoying their lives in Mr. McGregor's vegetable garden until a new owner moves in and discovers them. Soon the two groups battle against each other to prove who should be able to stay.

The final movie will be a surprise final film that takes place on Aug. 13 – 16.

Tickets can be purchased at the box office 10117 Highway 2 for $5. All movies are shown at 10:30 a.m.
