Ronny (Ron) Frank Weston

Ronny (Ron) Frank Weston, 64, died instantly on June 6, 2018 in a powered hang glider accident. Ron always loved seeking new adventures; he left us, doing exactly what he wanted, enjoying life and pushing the bubble just a bit.

Ron was born on Jan. 25, 1954 in Seattle to Julius (Buss) and June Weston. In 1975, after marrying Trudy, Ron and Trudy lived in Cheney, then Redmond, Wash., returning to this side of the state to Medical Lake, then Four Lakes and finally back to Cheney for the past 30 years.

Ron is survived by Trudy (Altig) Weston wife of 42 years, son Jesse Weston, daughter C'dra, son-in-law Chad Himelspach, grandchildren Leanna Weston and Macguire Weston. He also leaves behind he beloved sister Willy Murdoch (Packwood, Wash.), brother Gary (Yakima, Wash.), in-laws Craig & Anita Jones (Coeur d'Alene), Sandy Belair ( Spokane Valley), Ron and Bonnie Lemert (Cle Elum, Wash.), Don and Connie Thomas Spokane Valley, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews as well as friends of his heart and intimate co-workers.

Ron grew up in Seattle. He attended Evergreen High School, then Highline Junior College before transferring the Eastern Washington State College where he earned a bachelor's degree in Industrial Arts. After graduation he was hired by Rocket Research in Redmond, but one year later decided to return to Eastern Washington University to obtain a degree in education. Upon graduating he taught metal shop, electronics, computers, and science at East Valley High School in Spokane Valley, where he remained almost 20 years.

Being an avid weight room user, he stayed in amazing shape and at age 45 became the oldest firefighter, at that time, hired by Spokane Fire Department. He spent the happiest 14 years of his working life at Station 1 in downtown Spokane. He loved his job and his fire fighting brothers.

Ron retired in 2013 after developing respiratory issues. Ron elected to retire long before his heart wanted to leave the profession.

After retirement Ron had more time for his life long hobby of building, and creating things. Over his years of life, he constructed larger shops providing tools to create furniture, do blacksmithing, erect five homes for family members, create artwork that included covering twenty acres, building a 1932 Ford from the ground up like the one in American Graffiti, a five window 1954 Chevy truck, a 1950 Ford Sedan, and two award winning Rat Rods: a 1948 Ford and a 1948 Chevy tow-truck. Just this month the 1948 tow-truck won the President's Club award at the Ritzville Classic Car Club 2018 Car Show.

We who loved him are forever grateful for having him this long. He will be missed.
