Former Cheney High School javelin thrower Kinsey Pease completed her collegiate career at Arizona Christian University with a javelin championship in the Golden State Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships.

Arizona Christian University senior Kinsey Pease (Cheney High School 2014) concluded her college athletic career with a victory in the javelin competition at the Golden State Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships, hosted by Westmont College in Monticeto, Calif. near Santa Barbara. Pease had a throw of 38.33 meters. She also finished third in the 400-meter hurdles, an event she just picked up two years ago.

According to her father, Kerry Pease, who was in attendance with her mom Cheryl, Kinsey lead comfortably through the first four throws, but then a Westmont athlete overtook her late in the competition.

"A determined Pease said later, 'I was not going to come in second in my final meet!'" Kerry Pease wrote in an email.

Kinsey Pease immediately followed with a throw about two meters farther to become a conference champion.
