The Medical Lake boys tennis team ended a five-match losing streak last week, claiming a pair of 3-2 wins on the road at Riverside April 24 and Deer Park April 25. In a schedule that had them playing three times in as many days, the Cardinals lost 3-2 at home to Deer Park April 26.

The meeting with the Rams was a regularly scheduled Northeast A League contest while one of the Deer Park matches was rescheduled from April 10.

Noah Ray got one of the wins for the Cardinals against the Rams with a pair of 6-2 wins at No. 1 singles.

The victory was sealed by doubles wins, with Bradley and Kurtis Kenady collecting a 6-2, 6-3 win over Dylan Aronson and Daniel Rx. Then, Ashton Hamilton-Becker and Palladin Goldberg defeated Koby Reilly and Devin Day Meneely 6-2, 6-2.

Medical Lake turned around the following day to go winless in singles play, but swept doubles in the second encounter with Deer Park.

The Kenady brothers won 6-1, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3 against Trevor Murphy and Dawson Dotts at No. 1. Ethan Brown and Caleb Snow topped Bodin Newman and Chad Vincent 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 pair Hamilton-Becker and Goldberg defeated Zach Heglin and Hannis Lieberger 6-1, 6-1 for the win.

In the rematch with the Stags, the No. 2 duo of Brown and Snow defeated their opponents 6-1, 6-1 while Hamilton-Becker and Goldberg topped Zach Heglin and Chad Vincent 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3.

The Cardinal girls continued to struggle, losing for the seventh consecutive time in the NEA following an 0-3 week.

Things began with a 3-2 loss at Riverside and concluded with setbacks of 4-1 at Deer Park and 5-0 to the Stags at home in the same schedule as the boys.

No. 1 singles Heather Barr defeated Anna Powers 6-1, 6-2 and Emily Zunker cruised past Ava West 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 before ML lost all three doubles matches against the Rams. Zunker’s 6-2, 6-0 wins over Sarah Curtis was the lone victory in the first meeting with Deer Park.

Medical Lake attended the Inland Empire Tournament last Friday and Saturday but no one advanced into play on day-two.

The regular season wraps up with matches at Newport May 1, at Lakeside on May 3 and at Colville May 4. District play takes place at Mead High School May 11–12.
