Kenneth Earl Jones, born March 1, 1945 in Mobile, Ala., passed away on April 11, 2018, surrounded by loved ones, succumbing to a short battle with lung cancer in Spokane, Wash.
He joined the U.S. Air Force after high school, retiring after 24 years to Medical Lake where he resided until his last day. One highlight of Ken's military career was being a part of the design, modification, and implementation of the safety equipment on the original B-1 bomber which made its debut at Dyess Air Force Base in Ablilene, Texas.
After his military service, he worked at Washington Trust Bank for 10 years and was also an in-home care giver for the remainder of his professional career.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Valerie Jones of Great Hockham, Norfolk, England. They raised two sons together, Jonathan and Edward Jones, both of Medical Lake. His granddaughter, Heather Jones, his brother Larry and sister-in-law Sue, sisters Linda and Bobbie, along with many other family members and friends will mourn his loss.
"I don't know that in life we get all the things we want, but dad always made sure that we had what we needed," son Jonathan Jones said. "He had an incredible sense of duty and honor, and he showed us how to provide for our family and loved ones. It wasn't until later in life that we really appreciated the amount of sacrifices he made so that we never had to worry about a roof, a meal, or bills being paid. You will forever be missed."
