LOOKING BACK WITH THE CHENEY HISTORICAL MUSEUM

One hundred twenty-five years ago in 1893, Cheney held a special election after the Governor vetoed money to replace the Normal School. They approved a bond of $19,000 to build a new brick public school. They also agreed that it would be used by the Normal School until State funding to rebuild was finally obtained.
