Betty Jean (Ayers) (Leppell) Brundage

Betty Jean (Ayers) (Leppell) Brundage, resident of Cheney, left this world Thursday, March 1, 2018 in her home, surrounded by family, at the age of 84. She was born in Tabor, Alberta, Canada on Aug. 15, 1933, the daughter of Lee and Verland (Duncombe) Ayers.

Betty was a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School and a homemaker. She enjoyed shopping thrift stores, gardening, canning and spending time with family. She loved being outside in her garden. Betty was a member of the Cheney Faith Center and worked as a volunteer at the Cheney Clothing Bank right up until a week before she passed.

Born both feisty as heck and tough as nails, she outlived two husbands, Hugh B. Leppell and Richard Brundage, two daughters; Shona Leppell and April Collins-Mears, one step-daughter; Gwendolyn Renee Wellington, one granddaughter; Holly Ann Parra and one great-granddaughter; Baby April.

She leaves behind three children; Connie Oakes and husband Robert of Cheney; Shane Leppell and wife Rosanna of Yelm, Wash. and Wendy White and husband Craig also from Yelm; four step-children: Rick Brundage and wife Kelly of Longview, Wash., Allen Brundage and wife Beni of St. Helens, Ore., Kathy Kyllonen of Toutle, Wash. and Mona Douglas of Scappoose, Ore., plus more grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren than can be counted.

A celebration of life barbecue will be held at a later date and friends and family will be notified.
