The Grit soccer team captured first place at the Inland Northwest 5-a-Side Tournament at Plantes Ferry State Park. The Grit went undefeated, 5-0, in the tournament, outscoring opponents 24-5 in the process. Eight members of the Grit were from Cheney. The city of Medical Lake filed a motion in Spokane County Superior Court dismissing A&K Development, Inc.'s lawsuit over the city's refusal to grant a rezone request, citing a "total absence of service."
Roger Hagenbuch, owner of Copy Junction in Cheney, opened another store in Airway Heights at 12015 West 14th Ave.
Cheney Parks and Recreation Department said they are moving forward with getting the development of the 50-acre site on Betz Road underway. The city of Cheney bought the property in the early 1990s and the town hoped to make it into Betz Park.
