The joy that our citizens of 1893 were celebrating a week ago for the prospects of rebuilding the Cheney Normal School, was turned to frustration this week. Gov. John McGraw vetoed the $60,000 appropriation for the new Normal School building, as well as the $25,000 for maintaining and operating the school.
