Eastern women finish strong, earn No. 3 seed at Reno

The Eastern Washington University women’s basketball team earned a No. 3 seed and a first-round bye and opened the 2018 Big Sky Conference Tournament play on Wednesday, March 7 against No. 6 Portland State.

The Eagles had a 12-6 conference mark and are 17-13 overall.

Eastern capped off the regular season on a four-game win streak following wins on the road at Southern Utah, 70-49 on Feb. 28 and Northern Arizona, 98-83, March 2.

EWU split a pair of meetings with Portland State this season, losing 75-60 on the road Jan. 4, before beating the Vikings 64-57 in Cheney on Feb. 3. The Eagles beat NAU in Cheney 82-62 on Jan. 18.

This is the seventh year in a row EWU has wrapped up conference play with at least 12 wins, and the eighth with at least 10. They are the only Big Sky school to achieve this. This also marks the seventh season in a row that Eastern Washington has secured a top-four seed and a first round bye.
