Medical Lake, Lakeside battle once again

Teams face off for another district title, state tourney seeding

Medical Lake's girls basketball team hopes to receive a special Valentine's Day gift.

Following the Cardinals' 55-39 win over Chewelah on Feb. 9, they earned their way into the district title game against a familiar and potent opponent, the Lakeside Eagles, in a state tournament seeding game that was played at West Valley High School Feb. 14.

To get there, Medical Lake extended its record to 20-0 by breaking open a close game with Chewelah (12-9), speeding up the pace with a strategy in mind. Tied 14-14 after one quarter, the Cardinals got the lead they would not relinquish with an 18-9 edg...
