Noble leads Cardinal girls past Shadle

Sophomore Jayda Noble scored 19 points to lead the Medical Lake girls to a 62-29 pounding of Shadle Park Nov. 29 in the season opener for both teams.

The Cardinals, who are defending Northeast A League champions and finished with a 20-3 record last season, played stout defense against the Greater Spokane League Highlanders, limiting them to just 10 points in the first half and led 26-10 at the break.

“It was a good first game for us,” head coach Kyle Lundberg wrote in an email. Medical Lake showed off its speed by recording 21 steals. They also recovered from a hideous first-half 3-point shooting where they went 0 for 11, but were 4 for 8 in the second.

Makayla Geiger added 11 points, while Jaxyn Farmen hit for 10.

Medical Lake played a nonleague game on Dec. 5 versus Davenport and then moves into Northeast A play on the road Dec. 8 at Riverside (7:30 p.m.) and Saturday at Lakeland of Rathdrum (6 p.m.). The Cards next play at home Dec. 12 hosting Chewelah at 7:30 p.m.
