Sheriff's Office warns of ongoing phone scams

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office continues to receive reports of scammers trying to lie, intimidate and threaten people into giving up their money or personal information, leaving them vulnerable to identity theft.

In a news release, Sheriff’s Office Dep. Mark Gregory said they have received reports of a jury scam, IRS scam and Microsoft computer virus scam over the past several weeks. All of these scams have the same basic premise: an individual contacts a potential victim as a “person who just wants to help.”
