Erma Jean Widman

At the age of 90, Erma Jean Widman departed her home in Rosalia, Wash. to storm the gates of Heaven.

Born July 31, 1927 and died Oct. 30, 2017, also known as Ermie, EJ and Granny Good Pies, she was a farm wife homemaker who lived to nurture and serve others.

Family, friends, and community admired her amazing Christian faith, patience, counseling, dependability, common sense, "git-er-done" attitude, uncomplicated solutions, ministry of hospitality and unassuming enjoyment of the simple pleasures of life.

She tackled numerous projects, large and small. In typical fashion, the ones she was most proud of were the ones that benefited others, like spearheading passage of a major school bond for remodel, or helping to organize the Gifted Granny Shop, or maintaining the Rosalia Museum.

She will be missed beyond measure. By her words and deeds, Erma Jean was an amazing role model to her four children: Larry, Bill, Gary, and Mary, daughters in law, multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family members.

In 1946 she was married to George Widman who passed on April 13, 1985. She requested a very brief newspaper obituary, so this is it. But more information on Erma Jean's life can be found on her Facebook page (Erma Jean Widman).

A celebration of her wonderful life will be held Sunday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. at the Rosalia United Methodist Church. Contributions in her honor and memory can be made to Rosalia United Methodist Church PO Box 202, or Rosalia Museum, PO Box 277, Rosalia, WA 99170. Cheney Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
