Church

Cheney Congregational Church will have a bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Homemade soup, bread and pie will be available for lunch from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Other offerings include a silent auction, crafts, raffles and the country store which includes baked goods, jam, produce and other edibles. The church is at 423 North Sixth St. (corner of Oakland).

We will have our next peace event on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 11:30 a.m., following worship. The community is invited and refreshments will be served.

Our speaker will be Capt. Rick Campbell of the Cheney police department. He will be addressing paths to peace in the Cheney community. What can we be doing that will guide the community to practices that will reduce the need for active police intervention?

Community Church

It’s that time of year again. Cheney Community Church is serving as a drop-off center for Operation Christmas Child (OCC) Christmas Boxes. OCC is a ministry where shoeboxes are filled with items and then sent to children around the world.

The OCC National Collection Week is Nov. 13-20. Cheney Community Church is the location for the West Plains drop-off center. Shoeboxes can be brought to the church during that week.

Hours of operation are: Monday - Wednesday, 9 a.m. - noon; Thursday, 4 – 6 p.m., Friday, 4 – 7 p.m .; Saturday, noon – 3 p.m .; Sunday, 1 – 6 p.m .; Monday (Nov. 20) 9 – 11 a.m. Put a smile on a child’s face. Fill a shoebox.

Come join us for Sunday worship at 10 a.m. Children’s church and nursery care are provided during the service. Our youth group, “Holy Flame,” for high school and middle school youth, meets every Monday at 6 p.m. for dinner, followed by Bible study from 6:30-8 p.m.

AWANA Club for boys and girls meets Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. There are classes for pre-K through 12th grade. A number of fellowship groups called “Connexion Groups”, meet during the week at locations

Lutheran Church

Emmanuel Lutheran Church invites you to worship with us this Sunday, Nov. 5, as we celebrate All Saint’s Sunday. You may also watch our pastor’s sermons on YouTube at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Cheney. Christian education for older elementary through adults begins at 9 a.m.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church invites everyone to the women of the church annual holiday bazaar and luncheon this Saturday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. A short list of available items are: crafts, baked goods, holiday decorations and white elephant items. You won’t want to miss our soup lunch, pies, and coffee, too. Come early for best selection.

Mark your calendar for Friday, Nov. 17, 6 p.m. and get your tickets for Emmanuel’s “Chicago Caper” Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre production. This event is a joint effort of StageWest Community Theatre and Emmanuel and all proceeds will go to Emmanuel’s carpet fund.

Tickets are $30 each paid in advance. Seating is limited. Please call Nancy Kuonen at (509) 768-4792 for reservations.

Thanksgiving worship service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 21, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 7 p.m. Please bring non-perishable food items for the Cheney Food Bank.

All are welcome to visit Emmanuel’s Little Free Library and Free Community Pantry located at 639 Elm St. Donations of books, non-perishable food and personal care items are always accepted. Both are open to the community 24/7.

St. Paul’s

Episcopal Church

A welcoming haven, nourishing all God’s people in body, mind and spirit. The Rev. Christine Soule will preach and preside this Sunday.

Our annual holiday bazaar will be this Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., offering hand crafts, gently used collectibles, baked goods and other food items and a raffle, plus special guest local author Rita Seedorf.

Attention all college students: The Episcopal, Lutheran and Methodist Campus Ministry, ELM, meets every Monday at 5 p.m. for dinner, study and worship, and invites all college students to join us. For more information contact Soule at (509) 844-2553.

Choir practice is every Thursday at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary, under the direction of Alexandra Rannow. Please come and sing with us.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the parish hall.

United

Methodist Church

It’s bazaar time in Cheney. You won’t want to miss any of the church bazaars taking place on Saturday, Nov. 4, including the annual holiday fair at the United Methodist Church. Baked goods, beautiful hand crafted items, holiday decorations and more will be offered from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Please join us for worship Sunday morning at UMC. Pastors Alissa Bertsch Johnson and Pat Sleeth will lead the worship service and continue the sermon series on Moses. Holy Communion will be celebrated. Preceding worship, there is a multi-age Sunday school class at 9 a.m. as well as an adult class based on “The Book of Joy.”
