Spokane International Airport closes runway for construction

Spokane International Airport has announced that begining this past Monday, Oct. 9, the secondary, east-west Runway 7-25 will be closed for construction. The construction work will include the repaving of Taxiway C2 within the runway safety area.

The airport will also use the closure period to survey the runway and perform geotechnical investigations for the upcoming Runway 7-25 and Taxiway C Shoulder Improvement Project. The closure is anticipated to be in effect until Oct. 27.

The majority of aircraft operations, take-offs and landings, occur on the main Runway 3-21. It will remain fully operational during the temporary closure of Runway 7-25. Officials at SIA do not anticipate any disruptions to commercial, general, or corporate aviation operations during the temporary closure period.
