Airway Heights council picks center funding option

After hearing all three options for setting the guaranteed maximum price for the recreation center at the Oct. 2 Airway Heights City Council meeting, the board voted on option two at the Oct. 9 study session.

Option two allows the 44,000 square foot building to be completely done once doors open with a guaranteed maximum price of $13.99 million of desig/build costs with the project totaling $17.26 million. Right now, the current approved project funding is at $15.04 million, creating a $2.2 million cost overrun with this option.
