Hands-on art experience Aug. 19 at the library

A free public art event featuring cool, hands-on projects is taking place this Saturday, Aug. 19, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Cheney Public Library, 610 First St.

Local artists Kay Kinghorn, Karen Simmons and Janet Wilbanks will lead four different projects for those will to try their hand at creating art. The artists will also have original artwork and prints on display and for sale.

Lisa Brown will hold Q & A session at the Mason Jar

Former 3rd District state senator Lisa Brown (D-Spokane) will be at The Mason Jar in downtown Cheney on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m. Brown will be asking questions and listening to residents about the concerns and issues facing them in Eastern Washington.

Brown is currently the chancellor at Washington State University’s Spokane campus, and has been mentioned as a possible congressional candidate in the 5th District in the coming 2018 election.
