Evah Dixon appointed to Airway Heights Planning Commission

At the July 17 Airway Heights City Council meeting, there were two items on the agenda and one of them was a new member of the Planning Commission. Evah Dixon was officially brought on by unanimous approval after living in Airway Heights for a year and eight months. Her position will expire in January 2019. With her addition, the Planning Commission now has five members.

Dixon has been a part of a number of volunteer activities around the West Plains area and wanted to become more involved in how the community develops.

Prior to moving to Airway Heights, Dixon served in the Air National Guard from July 2008 until July 2016. During her time in the Guard, she was the treasurer/financial liaison for Protestant Women of the Chapel in Misawa Air Force Base in Japan. Before joining the Guard, she was on the board of directors for Sierra Association of Foster Families in Reno, Nev. for about three years.

“We have made Airway Heights our home,” Dixon said.

The other item on the agenda was an agreement alongside FreshVue with a council sponsor from Councilmember Larry Bowman. FreshVue is a business management consultant based in Spokane with Eva Marquette as the founder. The goal with FreshVue is to provide an effective communication workshop series to the city department heads and city manager.

The six-month training workshop includes six sessions for four hours each, three coaching sessions and a ten percent discount off of original pricing.

The total pricing for the agreement is $16,200. The council said they have the $11,500 of the total cost factored into the 2017 budget already. With that, the remaining unbudgeted amount is $4,700. It was proposed to use one-time revenues for the remaining balance.

“Working with Eva is instrumental in moving forward,” Councilwoman Aspen Monteleone said.

There was a unanimous decision to pass the professional service agreement.

Deputy Mayor Tanya Dashiell also announced that it will be her last meeting as she has accepted a job with the city of Airway Heights as an administration assistant for public works.

“It has been an honor and I have enjoyed my time here,” Dashiell said.
