A year ago the Spokane Cannons used a solid second-place finish at the Whitefish tournament to propel them through their local league season, playoffs and on to the state AAA American Legion tournament.
This year they will have the added impetus of a win in that same tournament as preparations are made for the postseason. The Cannons, whose roster is well populated with athletes from both Cheney and Medical Lake, finished the regular season with a pair of games July 11 with the Bandits.
