CMS students named Poppy Poster winners

Cheney's American Legion Women's Auxiliary announced the winners of their "Poppy Poster Contest" at Cheney Middle School. The winners are first-place Tilly Baldwin, second-place Mayah Spakousky and third-place Lillian Ross.

Auxiliary member Margie Foland said the purpose of the contest, which is also run at the state and national levels, is to "honor the immense contributions that men and women who have lost their lives fighting for our freedom have made for our country."

Foland said this is the first year the Cheney American Legion Women's Auxiliary has sponsored the contest, and they hope...
