Lady Blackhawks' softball advance to regional crossover

Logan Krantz prepares to step into the batters box Monday against visiting Pullman. The freshman was 3 for 3 with three RBIs as the Lady Blackhawks eliminated the Greyhounds 15-8 to advance to the District 7 seeding game Wednesday against West Valley.

It took a bit of work, but the Cheney High School softball team finally fulfilled a major preseason goal - making it back for a chance to play for a state tournament slot.

The Lady Blackhawks got two solid pitching performances from Maddie Kallsen that were enough to give Cheney's bats a chance to come alive in late innings against visiting Clarkston and Pullman. Cheney scored in the fourth and fifth innings to eliminate Clarkston 11-1 in five innings on Saturday, and then rallied from an 8-6 deficit with three runs in the fourth to eventually eliminate the Greyhounds 15-8 on Monday.
