Warren Thomas "Tom" Myers passed away in Spokane, Wash. on May 5, 2017 of natural causes after some years of failing health.

Born in St. Paul, Minn., Tom spent his youth throughout the Midwest and completed most of his schooling in Madison, Wis. He enlisted in the Army in 1961 to become an armor mechanic and after Ft. Knox, was stationed in Germany and Canada.

He returned to Madison and started a family after discharge in 1964. Tom continued his service in the Army Reserves in Wisconsin, then enlisted in the Air Force in 1968.

After training in multiple levels of aircraft mechanics, he was awarded the status of master aircraft mechanic, served in Thailand and then Vietnam where he reenlisted in 1971.

He rotated from Vietnam to Fairchild Air Force Base, settled in Spokane and was again honorably discharged in 1974. Tom was very proud of his service in both the Army and the Air Force.

Among the highlights of those years were the occasions when, with special clearances, he flew as doorgunner with his Army helicopter pilot brother in Vietnam.

Tom received extensive vocational training including HVAC training for Cadillac.

He obtained his GED with the Air Force and continued his education at Spokane Community College. Tom was a diversely trained and highly skilled automotive, aircraft and general equipment mechanic.

Tom was preceded in death by his loving parents, Warren and Violet, and a younger brother, Francis (Clifton). He is survived by his children: Kurt Jacquelyn, and Richard in Spokane, as well as Thomas, four grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his brother Richard in Spokane, by Steven, in Manhattan, Kan., and by his brother Glenn, and sisters Nancy and Susan in Madison, Wisc.

Tom will be remembered fondly as a generous and helpful friend by all his relatives and his many friends. Tom was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
