Field events help Cardinal boys win NEA

It’s hardly news that Medical Lake head track coach Gene Blankenship will be the first to say it’s the postseason that matters.

So when his Cardinals fared just so-so in a Northeast A League track meet May 3 at Deer Park, he will take the individual victories that came out of the day rather than the end result. As a team the ML boys beat Riverside 75-45, but lost to Deer Park 110-35. The girls lost 79-64 to Riverside and 86-59 to Deer Park.

Blankenship said he expected Riverside to win in both boys’ and girls’ competition. “But again, we scored some points on the field events,”...
