The Cheney High School Equestrian Team has been competing in several events in the Washington High School Equestrian Teams District 1 in Wenatchee. High schools from regions in North Central Washington, the Columbia Basin, and the Spokane area were also represented, with 92 athletes total. From left to right are Destiny Otoupalik, Maddison Merriott, Morgan Barton and Jennifer Rossey. Notable recent finishes have included: Stockseat: Otoupalik (tied for first place); Barrels: Merriott (second); Huntset: Rossey (sixth); Dressage: Otoupalik (fifth), Rossey (seventh); Pole Bending: Merriott (fifth); Trail Equestrian: Otoupalik (seventh) in competition earlier in April and March. In a meet that took place April 7-9, the following girls earned awards: Barrels: Maddison Merriott (first); Team Sorting: Cheney (third); Dressage: Otoupalik (fourth); Figure 8: Merriott (fourth); Pole Bending: Merriott (fourth). Competition continues April 21-23, again at Wenatchee.
