Numbers give Blackhawk girls track and field options

For their first meet of the season, the Cheney High School girls track and field team didn’t do too bad, considering conditions last Saturday for the Howard Dolphin/West Valley Invitational were way less than ideal and a number of athletes were missing due to other obligations.

The Blackhawks ran, jumped and threw themselves to 98 points in the 14-team meet, a total bettered only by meet champion Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls). In a little bit of a shift from past meets, Cheney’s biggest scoring came not from track but in the field with five first-place finishes.
