Medical Lake shakes off winter rust at Tri-Cities' track event

Medical Lake head track coach Gene Blankenship thought he would take his athletes some place warm and dry to compete, so he bused them to usually toasty and dry Tri-Cities.

The normally astute veteran track and cross country coach, however, got tripped up by Mother Nature at the Richland Invite last Saturday.

"It was windy, rainy, cold and miserable," Blankenship said. "We go down there hoping we get warm weather."
