Cheney girls' tennis goes 2-1 in jamboree

Cheney's Bridget Calvert returns to the No. 1 singles spot. Calvert won the District 7 singles title in 2016.

The Cheney High girls' tennis team began their season March 10 at a jamboree where they swept Moses Lake, 7-0, defeated Ellensburg, 5-2, and lost to Othello 4-3.

In singles action, No. 1 Bridget Calvert, who won the District 7 singles title last year, went 2-1 with wins over her Ellensburg (6-3) and Moses Lake (6-3) opponents.

No. 2 Allanah Lewis and No. 3 Caitlyn Strong, who both return to varsity, went 3-0 for the day. No. 4 Danica Gary, who played varsity doubles last season, also went 3-0.

In doubles, No. 1 Nika Kauwe and Jasmine Daily went 2-1, with wins against their Ellensburg (6-1...
