Cheney School District bond looks to the future

By now, most of you have received your Feb. 14 ballot for the expand and renovation and security improvements for the Cheney School District. Please take the time to fill out your ballot and drop it into the box by the library, without the cost of a stamp, or send it off in the mail.

This bond is significantly more comprehensive in terms of benefits and security for all the schools in the district and identifies the growing need to address overcrowding at the high school. In addition, this bond will pay for land for a potential second high school in the future. As of now, there is not enough attendance to warrant two high schools. Two high schools at this current time is not beneficial to the students who participate in any other school activities, which is nearly every student, but it is nice to be prepared for the future possibility.

This is the school bond we really need, and I hope you vote approved! Please send your ballot in right away because truly, every vote counts. In 2015, the bond failed by only 100 or so votes. Let’s not make that same mistake this time.
