'Hoops for Caitlin' charity basketball game at MLHS

The Medical Lake School District is coming together to host a charity basketball game, "Hoops for Caitlin," at the high school, Jan. 28 at 4 p.m.

The event is to support Caitlin Butcher, a Medical Lake Middle School student who is battling several health problems. About once every two months, the family travels from Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane to the Seattle Children's Hospital for lab testing.

The game will pit staff from Hallett Elementary and the high school against faculty from Michael Anderson Elementary and the middle school.

Admission is free, but there is a suggested $5 donation. Friends for Children will be collecting donations to support the Butcher family's experiences.

Donations can also be made to Washington State Employees Credit Union.
