Ralph Quentin Johnson

Ralph Quentin Johnson, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Dec. 15, 2016.

Ralph was born in Belle Fourche S.D. on July 30, 1931. He attended school in a one-room schoolhouse until his father passed away unexpectedly at a young age. Ralph and his brother, Bob, had to help their mother run their 2,000-acre cattle ranch until it was sold 10 years later.

Ralph later moved his family west to look for employment opportunities. He worked for Washington state for 28 years. Ralph loved horses and was a lifetime member of the United States Team Roping Association and attended Cal Poly to learn the horse shoeing trade, which he did until he was 84 years old.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 41 years, Claudia; his sons, Rich, Russ and Jeremy; daughters Nanci (Larry) Gibson, Mary (Dan) Earlscourt, 10 grandkids and 15 great-grandchildren, along with three sisters Kathy (Richard) Ogle, Jerry Hagen and Pat Jensen and two brothers, Larry (Roxy) Jensen and Jim (Karen) Jenson. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents Albert Johnson and Mary Jensen, his brother Bob Johnson and sister Vivian Wright.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Cheney Church of the Nazarene Missions. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Cheney Church of the Nazarene. Visit his guestbook at cheneyfuneral.com.
