Trustees deny sanctuary campus petition, but pledges to ensure students’ rights
Eastern Washington University’s board of trustees, along with staff, are doing what they can — within their legal limits — to make the campus a safe place for all students.
After a special Nov. 22 meeting, the board issued a statement regarding a petition it received from staff and students. The petition requests the board designate the college as a “sanctuary campus” for undocumented students, staff and their family members who could face deportation.
