Cheney Depot Society fundraiser on Dec. 2

Join supporters of the Cheney Depot Society at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, for a prime rib dinner and other festivities at the Marketplace Bakery & Eatery, 1011 First St. A portion of your ticket price will go to help relocate and restore Cheney’s 1929 Northern Pacific Depot.

Tickets are $45/person and can be obtained by contacting John Taves at 559-5670 or jandjtaves@gmail.com by Nov. 30. A portion of the cost of each ticket will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a generous benefactor.

County library district Thanksgiving closures

All Spokane County Library District facilities will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24, and Friday, Nov. 25, in observance of Thanksgiving. Regular library hours resume Saturday, Nov. 26.

Spokane County Library District’s online services remain available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at http://www.scld.org.

Seventh annual Slightly West of Spokane Artists Studio Tour

The “Slightly West of Spokane Artists Studio Tour” is open to the public and will be held Saturday, Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. This year’s self-guided tour features 21 artists at seven stops around the Cheney – Medical Lake area.

Blood drive comes to Medical Lake High School Nov. 29

Inland Northwest Blood Center along with Medical Lake High School volunteers led by Sue Anderson will be coordinating a blood drive Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the high school’s small gym. Donation hours are from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

INBC needs an average of 200 blood donors every day to meet the needs of more than 35 hospitals in the Inland Northwest. A single donation can save the lives of up to three people.

Upcoming schedule for Feed Medical Lake

Upcoming free meals at Feed Medical Lake, which requires no proof of income, are listed as follows: Nov. 28, 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., variety of soups and sandwiches;

Dec. 12, 5–6 p.m., meatloaf, Parmesan noodles, salad and dessert; Dec. 28, 11:30 a.m. –12:30 p.m., variety of soups and sandwiches.

Feed Cheney on Nov. 28

Nov. 28 is the date for this month’s Feed Cheney dinner and grocery distribution at the Wren Pierson Community Center at 615 Fourth St. The 5:30 p.m. dinner is free to all, with no qualifying needed and is accompanied by live music. The clothing bank is open for Feed Cheney guests from 5–7 p.m. on the last Monday of the month in the lower level of the Wren Pierson Community Center.
