At their Nov. 3 meeting, the Cheney Historic Preservation Commission made official what it had already decided at its Sept. 1 meeting — to preserve a piece of the city’s history by unanimously approving an application from Eastmark Capital Group for inclusion of the Cheney School District’s Fisher Building on the local historic registry.
Eastmark is in the process of purchasing the district’s building, and is pursuing registry with state’s Department of Archeology and Historic Preservation and the National Parks Service in order to enable it to apply for tax credits for renovation work.
