Donald W. McMillan

Donald W. McMillan, 92, passed away at his home near Cheney on Oct. 21, 2016 with his wife of 69 years by his side.

Don was born to Ernest and Myrtle McMillan near Cheney on Aug. 26, 1924 and lived his entire life in the Cheney area. Don was involved in farming, ranching and dairying. After owning his own dairy, he managed the state dairy at Medical Lake, sold feed for Moorman's, worked at Cheney Grain Growers and retired as the field representative for Fox Milling.

In retirement, he enjoyed welding "Cowboy Art" out of horseshoes. Don was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, active in the Knights of Columbus and past Grand Knight. Don was a kind and gentle man who was loved by all who knew him.

Don is survived by his wife, Jean, at the home, brother Ted McMillan of Covington, Wash., sister Erny Hilton of Cheney, sons Bill McMillan (Sandi) of Spokane Valley and Bob McMillan (Laurie) of Cheney, daughter Donna Holloway (Russ) of Port Orchard, Wash., 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Edith McCall.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Catholic Charities Spokane, P.O. Box 2253 Spokane, WA 99210. A viewing will be held at Cheney Funeral Chapel from 1 - 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28. Rosary will follow at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 460 N. Fifth St., Cheney, on Friday Oct 28, 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. Cheney Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
