Cheney Community Church

The annual Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child (OCC) project is on the horizon. This year, Cheney Community Church will serve as the relay collection center for the West Plains. Shoebox gifts will be brought here for processing and shipping.

The Sunday worship service at Cheney Community Church is at 10 a.m. Children’s church and nursery care are provided. There are Bible studies Sunday morning at 9 a.m. for teens, college students and adults. A number of other groups meet during the week. Monday the youth meet for dinner at 6 p.m. followed by Bible study 6:30 – 8 p.m. AWANA Club is Wednesday 6 p.m. for teens and 6:30 p.m. for the other children. Home fellowships and Bible studies begin this next week around the area. We welcome your attendance at any of these events.

Cheney United Church of Christ

You are invited to Cheney UCC services on Sun, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. Pastor David Krueger-Duncan will deliver the sermon on Congregationalism. Prior to services, the men’s breakfast will meet at 7:45 a.m. at the Cheney Marketplace & Bakery.

Choir practice has moved to Tuesday at 7 p.m. this season. Contact music director Kate Francis at 481-5234 if you are interested in participating. Church office hours are Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Call the church office at 235-4193 for information. Messages may be left if no one is in the office when you call.

Cheney UCC is participating in the annual community coat drive. Donations will be accepted until Oct. 10. The “Lunch Bunch” meets on Thursday, Oct. 13 at noon in the church fellowship hall. Everyone is welcome. Bring a dish to share.

The church is sponsoring a benefit for long-time member Dave Hackwith to help with his recent medical expenses.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

All are welcome to worship with us this Sunday, Oct. 9, at 10:30 a.m. You may also watch our sermons at our website or on YouTube at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Cheney. Sunday school classes for grade school through adult begin at 9 a.m.

All are welcome to visit Emmanuel’s Little Free Library and Free Community Pantry located at 639 Elm St. Donations of books and non-perishable food items gladly accepted. Both are open to the community 24/7.

Four Lakes Community Church

Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m. and our worship service at 10:45 a.m. All are welcome. Our current sermon series is entitled “Living in Grace in the Promised Land” by pastor Sean Carney.

Join us for Wednesday music practice at 6:30 p.m., Thursday AWANA at 6:30 p.m. for grades pre-school – eighth-grade, Friday men’s breakfast and Bible study at 7 a.m. and a Ladies Bible study to begin Oct. 18, then every other Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The men are studying “Fathered by God” by John Eldredge and the ladies “Daniel” by Beth Moore. We will be hosting a special Bible teacher, Ken Needham, on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

Holy Eucharist is at 11 a.m. The Rev. Christine Soule will preach and preside. Thank you to all who attended our yard sale.

Attention all college students: The Episcopal, Lutheran and Methodist Campus Ministry meets each Monday evening at 5 p.m. for dinner, study and worship. Please join us. For more information contact Soule, 844-2553.

Our community garden at St. Paul’s, consisting of flowers and vegetables in raised planter boxes at the church is continuing. Produce is going primarily to the Cheney Food Bank.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. in the parish hall.

United Methodist Church

Worship with us this Sunday at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church. Pastor Alissa Berstch Johnson will continue the new sermon series, “Following God’s Vision: The Future at Cheney UMC.” Associate pastor Pat Sleeth will assist with the service. All are welcome.

A multi-age Sunday school class for students in kindergarten through fifth grade starts at 9 a.m. A grief support group is also available at 9 a.m. based on the book, “A Grace Disguised” by Jerry Sittser.

Sunday evening the adult fellowship will gather at the home of Ken and Edith Dickson for a potluck and costume party. The fun begins at 6 p.m.
