Cheney Police officers apprehended a pair of car prowlers last Friday night who came to the city from Spokane in search of loot.

Cheney Sgt. Chad Eastep and Officer Rocky Hanni responded to the 200 block of Betz Road after receiving a call from citizens witnessing several individuals breaking into vehicles at the Barrington Apartments.

According to Capt. Rick Beghtol, two individuals were confronted and attempted to flee the scene. Beghtol said one individual appeared to be high on something, and turned to confront Eastep, who subdued him with a Taser.

The other individual managed to convince a female tenant to let him into her apartment, but after witnesses pointed out where he was to officers, was confronted and apprehended.

Police arrested Eric R. McGhee, 19, and Trent M. Conley, 19, both of Spokane and charged them with vehicle prowling and possession of stolen property. Beghtol said they subsequently have been able to link the pair to another burglary that took place several weeks ago at the Eagle Point apartment complex where a $250 trailer hitch was stolen.
