Cannons claim third place in Wood Bat tourney

Lose to eventual champ Edmonton in semifinal round

Cory Wagner of the Spokane Cannons delivers a pitch in last Sunday's 4-3 Wood Bat Classic win over Northwest Premier that sent the team into the semifinals where they lost to eventual champ, the Edmonton Cardinals, 8-1.

The Spokane Cannons may be disappointed that their quest for a Senior American Legion Wood Bat Classic title ended last Sunday afternoon, a game short of reaching the final.

Spokane lost to the Edmonton Cardinals 8-1 in the semifinals July 4 with the Canadian club later going on to beat the Yakima Beetles 7-5 for the AAA crown.

The Cannons have more important things at hand so they will likely forget about the tournament with important league games ahead and playoff berths soon to be on the line.
