Cheney scout troops retire flags as part of annual Flag Day observance June 14

Cheney Boy Scout Troop 356 and Cub Scout Pack 356 commemorated Flag Day, June 14 at Veteran's Memorial Park. Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on June 14, 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.

The scouts collected nearly 100 U.S. and state flags. The flags were put to rest in a flag retirement ceremony according to U.S.C. Title 36, Chapter 10, §176. This solemn ceremony respectfully burns the flag, with the ashes collected and spread at the scout's summer camp.
