While total call volume is down since university joined county system, Cheney police dispatchers are still busy

Roughly six months after Eastern Washington University decided to part ways with the Cheney Police Department for dispatch services, things are “going very well,” according to Cheney Police Chief John Hensley.

Without much of an explanation to the city as to why, the university decided last summer to end its contract with Cheney for most communications services in favor of those provided by the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
