Book club discusses ‘Orphan Train’

“Orphan Train,” a moving novel, is the April selection of the Book Discussion Group of the Friends of the Cheney Community Library. The group meets Wednesday, April 27, at 7 p.m. at the library.

“Orphan Train” tells the story of a girl who travels from New York City to Kansas in the 19th century as one of the poor, often orphaned children who were sent out to be taken in by people on farms and in small towns. Although it is a novel, the author, Kristina Baker Kline, has done extensive research for historical accuracy.
