Medical Lake Council gets update on parks

The Medical Lake City Council breezed through a quick agenda at its Tuesday (April 5) meeting.

City Administrator Doug Ross informed council that city maintenance crews were cleaning up the parks and getting them ready for use. He said there are already several reservations made for Waterfront Park.

“But it’s not like they are happening this coming weekend,” Ross added. “We still have time.”

Ross said Waterfront Park’s restrooms are now open and crews have completed work on the new shelter. He noted there was a wet area in the park that was taped off. He explained the area was wet because of the extra moisture from the winter months.

“Avista also fixed the ballfield lights so they won’t turn on in the middle of the night,” Ross said.

When Councilman A.J. Burton asked about an update on a replacement for the open City Council position, vacated by former Councilman Howard Jorgensen who resigned in January. Ross said Councilman John Paikuli and Councilwoman Laura Parsons, who were both absent from the meeting, requested they hold off on discussing the matter until the April 19 meeting.
