Much of Cheney-based shortline railroad's business remains north and west of town

With so much focus and attention being given to upgrades of railroad tracks that lead out of Cheney to serve the new Highline Grain Terminal in Four Lakes, the primary users of those rails might have been forgotten.

Donald Purdie, president of the Eastern Washington Gateway Railroad, the company that leases tracks from its owners, the Washington State Department of Transportation said that much remains status quo with his shortline.
