Betty Eugene Smith

Betty Eugene Smith, 93, of Medical Lake, Wash., passed away Jan. 21, 2016 in Spokane. She was born June 7, 1922 in Larned, Kan. where she lived and went to school.

She enlisted in the World War ll Women's Army Corp. She married a fellow soldier, Francis Smith, who preceded her in death. Betty is survived by her three children Cleve, Theresa and Leslie, granddaughters Heather, Monica, Jennifer and a great granddaughter Charlotte Mae.

The most important things to Betty were living in the small town of Medical Lake and being patriotic.  Her Lutheran and Episcopal Church friends brought her great joy. The American Legion, Eastern Star and Care and Share were close to her heart.  She loved all of the young women in the Girl State program. Senior meals was her Thursday delight and dessert was always eaten first.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church in her memory. Join us in her celebration of life on Friday, Jan. 29 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 223 S. Hallet St. in Medical Lake. Coffee and fellowship to follow.
