Long-time community organizer and City Councilman Howard Jorgenson tendered his resignation at the Jan. 19 Medical Lake City Council meeting. Jorgenson is experiencing health issues, has been absent from meetings the past several months and is currently at Cheney Care Center.
Jorgenson was elected in 2003 in a tight race with former council member Lahnie Henderson that went to a recount. It was not his first time serving on council, having spent time on the dais in the 1990s.
