The Bonneville Power Administration announced an 11 percent rate hike to its wholesale customers such as the city of Cheney, meaning an increase to $32.22 per megawatt hour from the previous $30.72.

Waterfront Park in Medical Lake was the site of a two-day show presented by Visions Car Club after the Parks and Recreation Department approved a deal to rent the area.

The problem of a perceived danger at the intersection of Betz Road and State Route 904 might be resolved by lowering the speed limit from 55 to 45-miles-per-hour Cheney Public Works Director Paul Schmidt said.

Plans for a future school levy took a major step forward when the Committee for the Support of Good Schools recommended that voters be asked to fund Cheney schools with an additional $7 million for 1997 and 1998.

Hewlett-Packard donated $100,000 worth of computer hardware and software to Eastern Washington University, doubling the number of business students who would have access to such equipment.

A group of concerned citizens were offering a $500 reward leading to the apprehension and conviction of those responsible for vandalism at the Fairview Cemetery.

After guiding his Cheney High School football team to the Frontier League title, head coach Tom Oswald was named the league’s top coach.

Dec. 18, 1975

The Cheney City Council spent the evening slicing bits out of the 1976 budget in order to make it balance. The council planned to vote on it in their next meeting.

Area citizens were being asked to serve on a committee to help provide input for the design of the new criminal justice program at Eastern Washington State College.
