Judith Arlene (Stout) Abbott

Judith Stout was born Oct. 30, 1936 in Puyallup, Wash., and raised in Sumner, Wash. Judy was a part of her high school band and Rainbow Girls. She graduated in 1955 and married her high school sweetheart, Robert D. Abbott on Dec. 23, 1955.

They traveled with the Air Force and lived in Reno, Nev., Eielson AFB in Alaska as well as duty in Virginia and Homestead Air Force Base in Florida before settling at Fairchild.

Judy lived in Medical Lake and Spokane, Wash. for over 40 years. She was a member of Medical Lake Lutheran Church before she moved to Spokane and was a member of Central Lutheran Church.

Judy wrote for the Cheney Free Press and also worked within the civil service at Fairchild from 1970-1985. She was very involved in her community and participated in the Friends of the Library, Medical Lake Founders Day, Medical Lake Historical Society, Medical Lake City Council, Lion's Club and the American Legion Auxiliary, including work with Girl's State.

Judy enjoyed playing the organ, photography, being involved in her community, attending church, crafting, genealogy and spending quality time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1982. She leaves three children, Raymond Abbott, Tammie Zemler and husband Mark, and Lynn Lewan; 14 grandchildren, Matthew Zemler (and spouse), Phillip Zemler (and spouse), Daniel Zemler (and spouse), Richard Abbott, Robert Abbott, Raymond Abbott, Nicholas Brown, Eugene Lewan, Ashley Lewan, Elyse Lewan, Emily Lewan, Ethan Lewan, Mary Lewan, and Madilyn Lewan; and 11 great-grandchildren.

For the past two-plus years, Judy has called South Hill Senior Living her home and her family would like to thank the staff and residents for making the last years of Judy's life warm, happy, and memorable.

Judy was very involved at South Hill Senior Living on their resident's council and enjoyed quilting, crocheting afghans, anything musical, arts and crafts and even placed second in a citywide Wii Bowling competition.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 2, 1:30 p.m. at Washington State Veterans Cemetery, located at 21702 W. Espanola Road, Medical Lake. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
